A friend sent me these lines from Auden’s “Funeral Blues”:
. . . my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
Yes.

Dear Witold- We are sad to hear of Shirley’s death and send our condolences. – I have fond memories of the many outings I did with Shirley, be it food shopping in the ethnic stores in the Greater North/East or Chinatown, or day trips to museums in NYC. Spending a day with Shirley, although high energy, was never dull, her humor and passion made them special. She was, as our grandchildren would say, super cool.
We wish you strength to overcome the loss of Shirley.

What beautiful words, and what a stunning woman. I am sure she equaled or surpassed in every way that mattered in life.
